Welcome to Stage the Number
Stage the Number is a rehearsal-style class where participants learn 1-2 minutes of choreography and staging, simulating the experience and mirroring the demands of a professional production. The class emphasizes process over perfection, culminating in a filmed run-through that mirrors the rehearsal footage often released by Broadway and regional productions. Based in NYC, Stage the Number primarily holds classes at 890 Broadway in Manhattan. Stay up to date by joining our email list.

What to Expect
- Dive Right In: Unlike a traditional dance class, we jump straight into learning choreography—after a quick warm-up (if any).
- Broadway Inspired: We build numbers from Broadway shows of past, present, and future. Style will vary based on the show and choreographer.
- New Choreography: The material learned is the choreographer’s work—not original Broadway choreography unless explicitly stated in the class description.
- Cohesive Staging: Throughout class, you may learn different sections that come together to form a complete number.
- Choose Your Pace: You control how much you take on. If you feel you’ve hit your limit, you can opt out of additional sections—no pressure!

Showcase Your Talent:
Participants will receive class footage to enhance their personal promotions and reels Rehearse Your Rehearsal Skills: Auditioning is crucial, but the real audition often happens in the rehearsal room. Stage the Number provides a rare opportunity to develop and maintain this essential skill. For Every Experience Level:
Class and audition combos are tough—but rehearsing and performing push you to a whole new level. Sharpen Mental Acuity: On the job, it’s never just the steps. It’s choreography, numbers, spacing, partnering, vocals, costumes, mics, lights, and more. While we can’t replicate everything, Stage the Number stretches your mind to track complex details—skills that enhance both auditions and rehearsals. Go Beyond the Steps: Move past steps and style into storytelling. Be an actor, connect to the piece, and contribute to telling the story. Build Community: Rehearsing brings people together. Stage the Number fosters connection, collaboration, and camaraderie—helping to rebuild the sense of community in NYC’s arts world post-COVID. |
